Round 34 brings back the Icon Quest! The icon quest was a huge affair, with several comms to have quests, battles, icon posts, and discussions. The concept of the icon quest meant that all challenges were "staying open indefinitely", and we'll take that literally and try our hand at them again now!

We already did a round wo years ago, and the participants from back then already have character profiles:

The iconquest rules explicitly state that you can do each challenge up to five times, and you can do one challenge per week. We have five weeks in our retro_icontest round 09, so you can do five of the quests (or one of them five times, or mix and match). All the quests are listed here:

Part of theiconquest was to do battles against other participants. If you would like to run a battle in the course of this round, there's an info comment below which explains how to run a battle. Simply comment with your battle idea. You can suggest themes and ask for battle partners. Then you each choose a number of screencaps, and your battle is ready to start! Feel free to expand the battle to other participants by posting it to iconbattles.

Consider the original challenge rules and try to stick to them in spirit. Each quest has its own rules, but don't be put off by the many quests and rules! Charge ahead and have fun!

It's October, and everyone's doing Halloween challenges. I picked the Haunted House challenge from theiconthrone which leaves you a lot of choice on which aspects of Halloween to focus. Enjoy!

Welcome! Welcome everyone, this time I invite you to a trip through a haunted house. Be prepared, because you'll see some horrible, thrilling things in here. This big, old house stands abandonned for over 100 years, but this doesn't mean that it's empty. What you'll hear and see here are tales and rumors heard from time to time from people who live nearby, ghost hunters that decided to spend the night in here and thrill seekers. So take your flashlight and come inside.

I finally managed to send neonspider a message, and while they sadly didn't respond, now enough time has passed that we can use a challenge from somein30! Several people have suggested somein30 before, and I loved the comm as well, so it was only a matter of time. I picked my absolute favorite round from the comm - and the one that means the most work for me, meeep. Be patient with me! <3

TACTICAL HINTS

-> fandom: as the challenge rules say, you can use your own caps, but consider that your choice of fandom can be a hint as to your identity. Using the provided caps for some of your icons will make them harder to guess.
-> style: you are absolutely allowed to try to imitate someone else's style in order to throw off the guessers
-> guessing: I'll post the guessing rules with the guessing post at the end of the four weeks. Short summary: everyone can guess, you don't have to have made icons. Guesses can also be made anonymously. You don't have to reveal which icons you've made.
