The original image links from the challenge were broken, but thanks to luminousdaze, who gave me access to the submissions, we now have one of the sets that were submitted to the challenge. \o/ The 8x2 challenge ran twice at island_rumble, and the rule wording was slightly different - I combined both challenge posts into one for our round here.
You will choose two screen caps from LOST(any episode).

Blank: No text, text brushes, words or letters. Textures, brushes etc are allowed.
Textured: Use a pre-made texture or if you prefer, paint a texture using texture style brushes. Words, tiny text and text brushes ARE allowed but not required. Texture must be visible in some way.
Text Required: The icon must have readable words on it.
Desaturated: The icon must be black & white or sepia toned only. No color at all.8 by 2 Variations: example set by

Image Choice:
You may choose any character, any episode, the same episode, different episode, the same character, different characters. Any thing you want as long as they are two different screen caps.
You will be asked to link to your original images when you submit your icons. (Thumbnails please.)
How to Enter:
You may enter a maximum of two sets.
Entries will be public.
You don't need to claim any subjects.
You may post directly to island_rumble or link to a public post at your journal.
Please post your icon tables behind a cut if post directly to IR.
NEW RETRO_ICONTEST RULES - mandatory
Consider the original challenge rules and try to stick to them in spirit. Our new rules are less strict, but you may find it fun to try and meet the original requirements, e.g. regarding specific fandoms or other restrictions.
Important:
you may only use two caps per set, and must make all the icons for that set from those two caps. You may enter more than one set, of course, and can choose different caps for each set. (Using additional caps as texture/overlay etc. is allowed, too, you don't have to post those).
+ you may enter as many icons as you like. minimum 1 icon.
+ please post the two caps you chose to base your set on. please put them under a cut and use a preview thumbnail.
+ full sets of 8 icons look nice, but are not required. feel free to pick and choose from the themes.
+ the original comm only allowed LOST icons. this restriction does not apply here. you can use any fandom/stock/etc.
+ submit your icons as a new entry into the community. if there are more than five, put the rest under a cut or a link to your unlocked journal post. tag your post with round number and your username (or ask me to tag it for you).
+ submit the URLs along with your icons. I'll only put the first
five eight per person into the roundup post. Either you only list eight, or I'll take the first eight.
+ make an effort to leave positive feedback on other participants' posts. <3

This comm generally runs from mid-month to mid-month every month, always ending on Fridays. There is no voting. I will make a roundup post containing maximum one set per person (that means 8 icons this time) after this challenge.
