Short Summary

This community will feature monthly challenges which were originally posted to other icon challenge communities on dreamwidth or livejournal, from a different community each month.

We - as members of this community and the icon community in general - want to celebrate the creativity of those challenge creators by trying our hand at their challenges again.

Credit to the original challenge creator is given at all times. Permission is/will be/has been asked wherever possible (i.e. the admin account of the original community still exists).

Rules (of interest to admins of source communities)

1) We'll try to get as much variety for the challenges at retro_icontest as possible. We'll try to have as many source communities to choose from as possible. That means we'll likely only take a single challenge from each source comm for the foreseeable future.

2) The source challenge post is linked, the creator of the inspiration post is credited. We respect and honor the time and creativity that went into every single one of the source community challenges.

3) When we use an inspiration post, its content is copied to retro_icontest for the sole purpose of preserving it in case the source community (or LJ as a whole) disappears.

4) Source comm rules are taken as-is whenever possible, except for the following changes:

- entries must be posted as new posts to retro_icontest
- each round on retro_icontest lasts four weeks
- the number of icons is unlimited
- there is no voting
- all fandoms (including real persons and stock) are allowed - but the original fandom (if there is one) of the source comm is mentioned and participants should consider iconing it if they know it

Participation Rules

A new challenge will be posted about once a month.

Challenges will usually run for four weeks.

Post your icons as a new post. If there are more than five (5), put the rest under a cut or a link to your unlocked journal post.

Please post the URLs along with your icons, it makes it easier for me to do the roundup post.

Icons must be made new for every challenge, and must not be entered into other challenges (here or elsewhere).

Icons must be created by the person who enters. Don't use other people's graphics or edits as bases.

Animated icons are allowed.

All icons posted to this comm (i.e. all preview icons) must be safe-for-work. You can enter x-rated icons, but you have to put them in your journal and put a warning into the link.

There is no voting. (But there will be a roundup post after every challenge.)

Please comment on other participants' submissions with positive feedback. Only leave concrit if a maker asks for it.

You can enter as many icons as you like. Minimum: one icon, the maximum is unlimited.

Stick to dreamwidth icon sizes: 100x100 pixels < 60kb.
