retro_icontestNow for our fourth round! The original comm was a 20in20, and that means there are 10 different themes + a category set + five author's choice icons. You can pick and choose or make the whole set!

I'm still in the process of PMing mods of older comms, but it'll take a while (and I have not received any answers from LJ mods at all so far). All the comms we currently have permission for are listed in the masterlist here.

THEMES:
• EXTRA FAR CROP + MODIFIED BACKGROUND - You need to erase the background and addjust clear tetxure at the back and make the character to be far away (the best would be full body in the icon).

• PERSONIFICATION OF A CHARACTER - You have to add textures/text/coloring, etc to personificate the character. If you are using non-decorative textures/coloring, please explain your choice, please.

I know that Dany is rather the Dragon girl now, but before she realised she's Mother of dragons, she was the Dothraki girl ;)
• COMPLEMENTARY COLORING - Rather simple, but, please, try to make other coloring than blue/yellow :D

• BOX IN A BOX - In this one, you need to make smaller piece of graphic, in the bigger (normal 100x100px) one. The shapes can be other than only square/rectangle.

• HALF-HALF - Your icon has to have two sections: the 'main picture' and the texture/other not-main-picture one. And they need to be (exactly or approximately) 50x100px and 50x100px.

• QUOTE CROSSOVER - The picture need to be from one movie/show and the text need to be from something else. YOU DON'T MIX PICTURES IN ICONS WITTH SHOWS/MOVIES, JUST TEXT. I couldnt find almost any icons, so I'll tell you examples: Dany with text - The Hunger Games Begin or Iron Man saying - I don't know who you are but I will find you and I will kill you, something like that. I saw last time one icon with Hannibal Lecter (tv show) saying Hannibal the Cannibal which is from the Richard Harris book and this may be accepted, because there are other things showed in show and in movie/book.

• MULTIPLE BLENDING - In this task, you need to add at least 3 different caps in one icon, which is different from the last round where you had to duplicate the base.

• FEATHERS IN A HAIR - This was popular some time ago and I wanted to make it back. Your task here is to paint some parts in the hair, in other color that the color of the characters hair.
The examples doesn't show it but I hope you understand it ^^

• TEXT ONLY - No person can be included in icon. The only things can be included here are text and maybe some stock pictures. Of course, text can/must be about character :D

• BLACK-COLOR-WHITE - And here you have to make icon with splash of color. NO SEPIA, again. Just grayscale with one other color.
I know the 4th example is not really b&w but I was out from example icons ;_;

SAMENESS
In this category, you have to combine with few things:
1. Your icons have to be the same in some way, like all icons will have muted colors + close crops or vibrant coloring + same movie or same picture + same kind of tetxure. THERE MUST BE 2 THISNGS THAT SHOWS THE SAMENESS ON THE ICONS!

I didn't list the original challenge rules, because there were no specific rules that differ from our own. Of course you have to stick to the round's themes. *g*
You can use the provided table from the original challenge (see above textarea) but you don't have to. If you don't make all 20 icons, please mention which themes you filled.
The original challenge required exactly one icon per theme. Here, you can pick and choose and even make more than one per theme if a theme especially inspires you.
-> you may enter up to 20 icons as specified by the challenge themes. minimum 1 icon.
-> submit your icons as a new entry into the community. if there are more than five, put the rest under a cut or a link to your unlocked journal post. tag your post with round number and your username (or ask me to tag it for you).
-> submit the URLs along with your icons. I'll only put the first five per person into the roundup post. Either you only list five, or I'll take the first five.
-> make an effort to leave positive feedback on other participants' posts. <3
-> read the full rules here in our userinfo.
Each challenge will run for roundabout four weeks. There is no voting. I will make a roundup post containing up to 5 icons per person after every challenge. The general plan is to go from mid-month to mid-month every month.
