Screencaps: the first three participants provide one cap each, after that you can still participate, but you have to use the three already provided caps.
-> Total number of icons per participant: 3. (or 2, if we only have two participants. :) )
Start of Battle: as soon as we have three participants - but you can still participate after, since you don't have to provide any caps once there are three.
